The Main Islands

The BVI archipelago comprises over 60 islands and cays, each with its own unique charm. Here's the four main islands that are the jewels of the BVI:

  • Tortola: The largest and most populous island, Tortola is the vibrant heart of the BVI. With its mountainous landscape, lush hills, and valleys, Tortola offers breathtaking views and a bustling capital city, Road Town.

  • Virgin Gorda: Known for the iconic Baths, Virgin Gorda is a geological wonder. The island’s mix of rolling hills and flat areas culminates in the scenic Gorda Peak, providing a serene retreat for nature lovers.

  • Anegada: Standing out as the only coral island in the volcanic BVI chain, Anegada boasts long, white sandy beaches and a large salt pond. Its surrounding coral reef is a diver’s dream.

  • Jost Van Dyke: Smaller and less mountainous, Jost Van Dyke is famous for its beautiful beaches and laid-back atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for those looking to unwind and enjoy the island life.

  • The British Virgin Islands (BVI) are home to a captivating ensemble of smaller islands, each with its own unique allure. Peter Island is known for its luxurious resort and splendid hiking trails, offering a blend of comfort and adventure. Cooper Island boasts a charming beach club resort, a solar-powered brewery, and is a favored stop for yachts and diving enthusiasts exploring the nearby "wreck alley". Salt Island is steeped in history, famously known for the RMS Rhone shipwreck and as a site for salt harvesting, while Necker Island stands out as a private retreat known for its exclusive luxury and wildlife conservation efforts. Norman Island adds its own allure, famous for its hidden caves and pirate legends, making it a must-visit for adventurers and history enthusiasts alike.
